Rain tapped against the windows as Bethany answered the call, already uneasy.
Bethany: “Hello?”
Jaden’s voice came sharp and unforgiving.
Jaden: “How dare you put your hands on Brooke?”
Bethany froze. Her grip tightened around the phone.

Her chest felt tight.

Bethany swallowed hard.

Something inside her cracked.
5. Breaking Point
Bethany: “You can’t just decide that.”
Jaden: “And you can’t put your hands on someone.”
Tears blurred her vision as anger and shame collided.
Bethany: “So I just stay here?”
Jaden: “Until you learn control.”
The line between punishment and power became painfully clear.
6. What’s Left Behind
Bethany stared out the rain-streaked window, her reflection fractured.
Bethany: “And Brooke?”
Jaden: “She did nothing wrong.”
The call ended.
Her phone buzzed—a message from Brooke asking if she was okay.
Bethany didn’t reply.
Montana was gone.
But something darker had taken its place.
Bethany looked at her reflection again—no longer shocked, no longer weak.
